Hello everybody. It's been quite a weird three weeks.
Here's where I was last time:
I was meant to go to a team offsite on the far side of the country which would have allowed for a lot of stitching on the plane. But on Friday we got news that the event (that I was supposed to fly to on Sunday morning) was cancelled. A few hours later we were told that my boss and her peer on the sales team had been abruptly let go.
That has led to a couple of weeks of uncertainty and confusion at work, and we're still trying to figure everything out. A new executive joined the company in the interim and everyone is just trying to get their work done. Strange times.
So, sadly, my opportunity to meet my colleagues and plan our projects for 2025 has been cancelled. And on a personal note, I DIDN'T HAVE HOURS TO STITCH!!!
But comparing the two photos, I guess I did get some stitching done:
I have over 50 of the 120 rows done, and I'm happy to say that I still like the way it looks. No thought or hope of getting this stitched by this Christmas, but I think I might be halfway done with the stitching by our next check in. We'll see.
See you in three weeks!
I'm sorry to hear about what happened at work. You did make some good progress though
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan!
DeleteWhat great progress Sunny.
ReplyDeleteThanks Helen! I've found a little window most days when the cats are napping.
DeleteI think you have made a lot and it´s looking great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gun. I am both enjoying the simplicity of using just one color of floss and feeling a little bored at the same time. Typical!
DeleteDespite the work upheavals (always the pits) you really got quite a lot done :) Hoping things will be settling down soon
ReplyDeleteThat was me anonymous above :) Sharon
DeleteThanks Sharon! I've set myself a fun work project where I get to learn a new system, write several emails, and help the folks on the sales team. So I'm keeping myself busy.
DeleteWork upset is alwasy the worst. At least you have your stitching to wind down with. You made a lot of progress on this beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathie! The kittens have kept me pretty busy as well.
DeleteSorry to hear about the unsettling times at work. Your stitching certainly didn't suffer. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Avis! Part of me wants to put it away for a little while and work on a vintage felt-and-sequin banner... but if I find it difficult to keep the kittens away from this project, imagine the fun they would have with beads and sequins!
DeleteYou made some great progress even with the changes to your plans. Hope the work situation gets straightened out soon. As someone who works in corporate retail, I can understand abrupt changes like this and they are always such a pain.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christina! Just trying to stay busy and do things that I enjoy and that help my team. That's all I can do, I suppose!
DeleteOh dear to the redundancies at work. Glad your job is still safe though.
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire. It's the uncertainty and lack of control that is so stressful.
