Hi everyone! How can it be DECEMBER already??? This year has been so strange, but I hope all of you are safe and healthy.
I'm not gonna lie -- I spent a good part of the day, including our weekly calls with my mom and Wil's parents, desperately stitching on the Christmas banner. It took me a very, very long time to get up steam on this project, but then I got into the Christmas spirit and went from this:
To this!
With that wrapped up (just in time!), I'm going to turn my attention back to mister tiger. There's a lot of background to fill into the center section, so I hope to get through that by our next check in, on December 27. Till then I wish you all a very happy Hanukkah, merry Christmas, and a joyous Boxing Day.
The other stitchers in this stitch-a-long all make beautiful and very different projects. So definitely check out their blogs to see what they're working on.
Oh my goodness, that is amazing! Congrats on your happy dance, what a fun project! I love these too, I have a couple of snowflakes that I made years ago from a similar kit and I'm sure there were more than 2 in the kit, I must see if I can find them! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny! I love these vintage kits -- at least for some good, kitschy holiday fun.
DeleteVery cute! I've never actually made any Christmas decorations myself because I'm so busy with stockings for the entire family, but my mom did send me a kit the other week and now all I can think of is to finish it in time for the holidays !!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan! I figure I can do one Christmas project a year (and probably have enough in my stash to last me another ten years!).
DeleteOh I love that banner. Which reminds me I have two of these felt kits to work on. One is partially completed. I will have to dig them out. Can't wait to see more of that tiger.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathie! I'm looking forward to filling in the background on the tiger.
DeleteHappy dance for you, Sunny !! You are fast and very good! How many delightful details ...
ReplyDeleteHugs, Carmela
thanks Carmela! It was a fun little project.
DeleteWow! You're needle must be smoking hot! It's a fabulous finish and I'm sure it'll last at least another 43 years. Loving the rik-rak :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Avis! If you can't have sequins and felt at Christmas, when can you?
DeleteWhat a great fun project. That banner is awesome. Happy Dance. It's so odd to think of 1977 as old but I guess it is :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon! I often think years are "recent" -- like anything 1980 on -- until I think about it. :)
DeleteVery cute! A fast finish for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura! It was good to take a break (once I could get myself started on it, anyway!)
DeleteHappy Christmas Dance indeed! Those old kits used to fascinate me, its fun to see one actually come to life. The closest I ever got to one was a catalog. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! It amazes me that there are still so many of these kits being made. (And so many unopened vintage ones lurking about!)
Deleteno there's a fun wall hanging that will be hung in pride of place every year!
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire! I have a little gallery of 4 banners so far and another couple of vintage kits in my stash. I feel like I don't always have space to display my work, but at Christmas, why not? :)
DeleteLove this Christmas banner! The Santas are very cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gun! It's been fun to stitch something so festive.
DeleteCongrats on your finish! It's so festive!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary Margaret!
DeleteWhat a beautiful project and congratulations on such a quick finish, it will look gorgeous hunk in your home this holiday. xx
