Golden Lily Stitch-a-Long, part 2

Hi everyone! I hope you are all safe and healthy. Last time I had recently started a new cross stitch kit, "Golden Lily" by J.H. Dearle. I feel like I haven't been making much time to stitch, and yet there's a ton of progress here. In theory, I could potentially finish this for our next check-in!

I also promised to show an update on the "finish" of my acanthus piece. I had toyed with adding some tassels at the corner, but they didn't look right. But I do love how the cord looks:

I had never attached trim to a finished pillow, so perhaps it's a little uneven. But I still like it.

I know I should just focus on my current cross stitch, but of course I'm thinking about what I want to work on next. I have three ideas ... an old needlepoint kit that has also been in the basement for over a decade; a large (for me, anyway!) cross stitch kit that I found irresistible; and a small, all-over traditional sashiko kit. So many choices! Hopefully I'll have made a decision by our next check in.

Till then, check out all the great projects that the other stitchers in this stitch-a-long are working on:

Avis, Claire, Gun, Carole, Sue, Constanze, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, CindyHeidi, Jackie, Hayley, Megan, Deborah, Mary MargaretRenee, Carmela, SharonDaisy, AnneConnieAJ, JennyLaura, CathieLinda, and Helen.

Our next check in is on August 23. Seriously, where is the time going?

  1. I think you did a great job with that cording. It is perfect for the pillow. I really like you latest project too. The lilies are pretty.

    1. Thanks Cathie! Of course when I look closely I see uneven bits in the cording, but if I am more kind and step back it looks pretty nice. :)

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one! As I stitch I seriously keep thinking, "needlepoint, cross stitch, or sashiko?" and weigh the pros and cons of each...

  4. Your cord is perfect for the cushion. What a fab finish! You're motoring along with your new project too. I always find having my next project in mind helps to keep me motivated on the current one. How about putting the names of the 3 potential projects in a hat and pull one out? You'll soon know whether you really want to do that one.

    1. Thanks Avis -- and I love your idea of putting the projects in a hat and letting that help with the selection. (Or, as you say, at least tell me if I really want to do it!)

    1. Thanks Kathy! I am definitely leaning toward the needlepoint in the basement -- I think it may be the oldest remaining "unstarted" project in my stash. But then I think maybe I should do a little sashiko, or maybe I should start the big daunting cross stitch ... :)

  7. Just love your acanthus cushion - super stylish. The cording is perfect and I agree with you about the tassels and think they would be one step too far.
