Scrap Happy Afghan -- COMPLETE!

Hi everyone! Hope you all are safe and healthy.

I'm going to cut to the chase here -- I finished the afghan!

This blanket is made of leftover yarn from the temperature afghan I made in 2017. I had so much yarn left over (you just can predict how much yarn you'll need for a temperature afghan!) that was just sitting in a box, and I decided to try and use it up to make a small lap quilt.

Of course, once I started crocheting, I discovered that I had too much yarn for a lap quilt ... and kept going. So the result is a full-leg-and-torso quilt!

I love the way the "repeats" get shorter each time as I ran out of yarn. Very satisfying!

I wove in the ends and made the simplest border -- just rounds of double crochet in black and dark grey.

I'm not sure I'll have another scrappy project for a while -- though of course I have several other projects on the go! I want to thank the other ScrapHappy Stitchers for their encouragement while I made this blanket up.

ScrapHappy Day is organized by Kate and Gun, so if you're interested in participating please see their blogs. And my fellow ScrapHappy Stitchers are super creative, visit their blogs to see how they're using up some of their scraps.

  2. I love how the change of shades looks like rolling waves, it is wonderful. An amazing and ever so comforting use of scraps.

  3. Wonderful! I love how this turned out. Rolling waves is an apt descriptor, and the edging is just right. :-)

  5. I do love this, and it's such a fabulous result from scraps. I particularly like how the graduation gives it a slightly metallic effect, as if it were dragon scales, for example! I'm sorry we won't be seeing you for a while, but I'm sure there will be more scraps in your life at some stage, waiting to be transformed :-)

  6. This looks so good and I was also going to say there appears to be a sort of metallic effect going on. The simple edging is all this needed I think - the emphasis stays on the central design which is great. Well done.

    1. Thank you so much! I'm so glad I made it rather than just donate the scrap yarn. :)
