Here's where I was on our last check in:
I had made great progress after 10 days or so, filling in most of the lower leaves:
(I also know how hard it is to see progress on the front of this canvas, so here's the back!)
So then it was time to turn the frame -- I'd say "for the last time", but I'll need to turn it a few times while I stitch the background.
Still much to do!
You can see that I'm pretty close to a "foreground finish" -- next time, I hope.
Even after the leaves are finished there is a lot of background work to do... which I always find tedious, if simple. This one is enlivened by the little pale blue speckles so I will have to think, a little... I'm hoping that by our next check-in I'll have a start on the background work.
The other stitchers in this stitch-a-long all make amazing, and inspiring projects, so check out everyone's blogs to see what they're all up to.

Sunny, marvelous progress! You are really moving on this piece...I would have a hard time with all those similar colors, so I really admire your persistence, it will be well worth it! Glad you are doing well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! As with many projects I seem to get in a groove for a while and then step away from it. Now that the weather has turned so nice I might get less stitching done, but I'm so glad it's moving along well.
DeleteHi Sunny! You have done a wonderful job! Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Carmela
Thank you Carmela! This has been such a fun and challenging project to work on.
DeleteThere's a long way to go but you're making fast progress. Seeing the back really helps to see how much is done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Avis! I'm trying to decide whether the background will go quickly or just crawl along. Of course, there's still a lot of "leaf" to stitch before I get there!
DeleteLooks beautiful, you have lots of patience I think with all these shades of green. Stay safe
ReplyDeleteJenny :)
Thanks Jenny! There's still a long way to go, but I'm enjoying it.
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, I'd have trouble with all those similar colors.
Have a great day!
Thanks Sherrie -- and welcome to the stitch a long! My "secret" is to stitch in really great light.
DeleteYou are getting closer and closer to a finish. It is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cathie!
DeleteYes, you see, it's those slight color variations that I now have a hard time with (probably always did actually). I enjoy large areas of plain stitching. That's what I find relaxing. Different strokes for different folks! Your progress with this is impressive.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue! I think I dislike the plain backgrounds because you see just how big a piece is! But I have a long way to go before I get there. Hope you are well!
DeleteIt looks lovely - I think the colours would drive me to distraction!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deborah! I have to *not* get distracted to tell the difference between some of those greens. :)
Deletemaybe still lots to do, but look at how much you've done already !!!
ReplyDeleteclaire93
Thank you Claire! I'm really happy with how it looks so far.
DeleteHow do you keep your back so tidy! By now, this would be nothing but a tangled mess for me especially using wool. But kudos to you for such neatness front and back,Sunny. You are making wonderful progress. Hope you are staying inside and safe!
ReplyDeleteHi Jocelyn! Ha -- I always think the back is really messy, close up! I run threads under stitches when I finish them, and sometimes get very gung ho and trim off the loose ends. I was thinking how happy I am that they will get hidden by being sewn inside a cushion, eventually!
DeleteThis is so beautiful and you are doing such a great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gun!
DeleteYour stitching is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura!
